The Health and Human Services Department currently has a full-time opportunity for a Supervising Pediatric Therapist. The Medical Therapy Program (MTP) is a special program within California Children's Services (CCS) that provides physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT) and medical therapy conference (MTC) services for children who have disabling conditions, generally due to neurological or musculoskeletal disorders. The MTP serves approximately 160 clients from birth to 21 years of age with a seasoned staff of 5.25 that includes OT's, PT's and a Therapy Aide.
The Supervising Pediatric Therapist has overall responsibility for supervision of staff and the planning, coordination and daily operation of the Medical Therapy Unit located at Marindale School in San Rafael. In addition, the Supervising Pediatric Therapist participates in statewide workgroups to establish best practices, collaborate with school administrators and provide direct patient treatments as needed.
Our Highly Qualified Candidate:
The Supervising Pediatric Therapist requires education and licensure as a Physical or Occupational Therapist. Our ideal candidate is a licensed therapist who has expertise as a pediatric physical or occupational therapist with specific experience working with identified eligible CCS conditions. The ideal candidate has knowledge of infant and child development and current evidence-based pediatric physical or occupational therapy treatment modalities which allow each child in our special population the ability to reach their highest potential and quality of life.
Our ideal candidate has at least one year of experience as a lead or supervisor, motivating staff, particularly in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate is a team leader and a team player who has excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills. The candidate should be culturally sensitive, able to manage change and demonstrate good communication and critical thinking skills. The successful individual must be able to establish effective collaborative relationships and prepare reports, including statistical reports, to provide quality assurance/improvement direction for the staff and program.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have possession of a valid Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist license issued by the State of California and three years of experience as a Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist. One year providing services to children with physical disabilities and one year of supervisory or lead experience are highly desirable.
