Job description:
The successful candidate should demonstrate a positive record of academic teaching and research. Additional responsibilities include scholarly activities, student advisement, doctoral- level curriculum development, student research and project direction, collaborative research, service at all levels of the university, and community outreach. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, including evenings and possibly weekends.
The Department of Physical Therapy consists of eight full time faculty serving approximately 100 graduate students. The Department converted to a DPT in Fall 2012 and houses several newly renovated state-of-the-art facilities including an Applied Physiology Lab equipped with a K4b2 telemetered energy cost system and bone densitometer; and a Balance and Vestibular Laboratory equipped with a NeuroCom Smart Equitest and Balance Master, and 4 teaching laboratories including a dissection laboratory. Job Requirements

Education, training, experience:
The Department of Physical Therapy invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. A doctoral-level research degree in Physical Therapy or closely-related discipline is required. A PhD, EdD, DSc degree is desirable, but a post-professional DPT with clinical specialization will be considered. Post-doctoral experience and a record of research accomplishments are desirable. ABD candidates will be considered, but must have completed the doctorate by the time of appointment. For appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, a candidate must demonstrate a record of teaching excellence and substantial research at the university level and publication in professional journals. The successful candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in California with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in physical therapy practice. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population. Experience with on-line teaching and instructional technology is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have or be able to establish a systematic program of research with potential for external funding and active participation or leadership roles in the profession of physical therapy or relevant organizations.
